Ethic Standards
Members shall conduct themselves in an honourable manner towards their patients seeking optimal health and well-being of clients with caring and respect. Respecting patients’ rights and dignity, not abusing their position of trust, respecting patient confidentiality, obtaining informed consent, recognizing the patient’s right to refuse treatment, or ignore advice. Keeping the patient informed by explaining treatment and expectations of results to avoid making promises or creating in appropriate expectations.
Members must the care of his or her patients as the most important responsibility, providing the highest quality of care, keeping good and accurate case records, practicing safe and clean techniques. Keeping up to date with first aid and CPR training, staying within their scope of practice. Never treating patients when judgment or competence is impaired. Being fair and honest about fees charged and respecting the involvement of other health practitioners and their patients right to choose other modalities and providers.
Members shall be honest and operate with integrity with all organizations they deal with in the representation of their training and credentials, in their financial dealings, in the fees and nature of services charged or billed, in the cooperation and timely revelation of any complaints made
against them to their association, and seeking the advice and support from the association when needed.
Members shall be respectful towards their colleagues, honour the bylaws and ethics standards of the association, pay dues as required, submit records of continuing education units, submit evidence of malpractice insurance and work to positively affect relationship building and harmony between association members, and members of other associations to promote the good reputation of our colleagues, our association, and our profession.
Members must, conduct a practice that is non-discriminatory and respect the laws of the land in both personal and professional life. Set a good example, contribute toward raising the standards of the profession, respect the integrity of other forms of health care and make efforts to build bridges and develop collaborative relationships to achieve the best possible care for the patient.
